Solicitor Julia Day doesn’t believe in gods—that is, until she hits one with her car. Tlat is everything a god shouldn’t be: alone, traumatised and vulnerable, and Julia can’t turn away a person in need. Then Tlat disappears, leaving Julia unprotected when she’s attacked by a cult of god-hunting witches.

Death god and divine arsehole Thanatos is her unlikely rescuer, and Julia demands answers from him. A soul has gone missing from the Underworld, stolen by the witches then stolen in turn by Tlat, who is now on the run. Determined to help Tlat, Julia enters a world of magic she has zero patience for, discovers her boss is a quarter-faerie warrior who can’t control his powers, and that all this mess is part of an immortal war. With the soul, the witches could kill a god. Or worse: they could kill Tlat, and Julia will be damned before she lets that happen.
